Texas’ current records: the greatest percent of drowning deaths are African American children and youth in general.
According to the Center for Disease Control, between 2005-2014 over 3500 people drown in non boat related incidence. This equates to one person drowning every day. A high percentage of these drownings deaths are of children under the age of 14. Drowning is now the fifth most likely cause of unintentional death across the United States. AMAD – All Mothers Against Drowning, is set to help encourage water safety for children across the Greater Houston Area.
